November is always a month of lots of visitors from out of town and a bit of hustle-bustle. This month I thought I’d share some recipes that are home to me and also are great for entertaining or for whipping up a quick meal when someone is going to stop by because they are in town or slept on the couch after too much fun the night before watching the big game. And I couldn’t resist sharing a bit of something sweet. We like to make this chocolate pound cake and have fondue dessert – so good. The recipe makes two loaves so you can share with friends
FRI NOV 5 - CASA SYLVIA MEATLOAF
Simple and good. Mixing ground pork and beef and the addition of Calabrian chili pepper paste make it irresistible and so good for sandwiches the next day. If you don’t want to do pork you could always do chicken too.
FRI NOV 12 - CLAY POT CHICKEN
My mother-in-law gifted me a clay pot with this recipe at my bridal shower – we make this often. It makes the whole house smell delicious and satisfies the tastebuds.
FRI NOV 19 - CROSTINI WITH 3 DIFFERENT TOPPINGS
WHITE BEAN AND PESTO - RED PEPPER TAPENADE - OLIVE TAPENADE
It’s always good to have a couple quick and easy appetizers to be able to make and take or to be able to lay out a snack spread easily with all three. Crostini is inexpensive and quick to make. All three toppings are easy as well and you might have everything in your pantry already! If you are staying away from bread, these toppings are great with veggies too!
FRI 26 - POTATO BASIL FRITTATA
An easy lunch with a light salad or as a breakfast this frittata is darn good. No crust makes it light on the calories and friendly to my gluten-free friends.
BONUS - CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE GANACHE
In a word – decadent; but let me say more, simple and easy, of course, and worthy of sharing with friends. It does go amazingly well with a nice cabernet too!
